Virgin Galactic is on track to become the world's first commercial spaceline. The new spaceship (VSS Enterprise) and mothership (VMS Eve) have been developed for Sir Richard Branson's Virgin Galactic by California based Scaled Composites. VSS Enterprise will carry six customers and two pilots on sub-orbital space flights, allowing an out-of-the-seat zero gravity experience and offering astounding views of the planet from the black sky of space. Please note: In this release, the SpaceShipTwo model is permanently attached to the WhiteKnightTwo mothership and cannot be displayed separately. Designed as an air-launched, sub-orbital spacecraft, the SpaceShipTwo was first flown (unpowered) on October 10th, 2010. The spacecraft was developed from the experience gained with the much smaller SpaceShipOne design. The design allows for two pilots and six passengers. A typical spaceflight involves being air-dropped from a WhiteKnightTwo mothership at 50,000 ft before igniting its rocket motor and climbing to a sub-orbital altitude of approximately 350,000 ft at 2,600 mph. The rear wing sections then "feather" upwards to stabilize the craft as it descends back into the earth's atmosphere and then reconfigure once more at 80,000 for a gliding flight to landing. © Copyright 2003-2025 The Flying Mule, Inc. Designed as a mothership to carry and launch the SpaceShipTwo spacecraft, the WhiteKnightTwo was first flown on December 21st, 2008. Under contract by Virgin Galactic, the aircraft was developed using experience gained from the much smaller WhiteKnightOne mothership that was previously built by Scaled Composites to carry the Space Ship One. The aircraft has a service ceiling of 60,000 ft and features a twin boom fuselage design that cleverly incorporates a complete replica of the spacecraft hull on one side, allowing for airborne crew training. © Copyright 2003-2025 The Flying Mule, Inc. The IDT "Jets" range presents detailed, ready-made diecast models of civilian transport aircraft. IDT Jets diecast airplanes feature: - Diecast metal construction with some plastic components.
- Realistic panel lines, antennas, access panels and surface details.
- Pad printed markings and placards that won't fade or peel like decals.
- Permanently extended metal landing gear.
- Presentation stand to display the aircraft "in flight".
