Flying Tiger Line was a prominent American cargo airline that operated from 1945 to 1989. It was founded in 1945 with historical ties to the American Volunteer Group (AVG), known as the "Flying Tigers." The AVG, formed in 1941, comprised volunteer pilots defending China against Japanese forces pre-U.S. entry into World War II. After disbandment, AVG leader Colonel Claire Lee Chennault played a key role in the formation of Civil Air Transport (CAT), evolving into Air America during the Cold War. While Flying Tiger Line wasn't directly linked to AVG, shared history and figures underscored broader American aviation and military contributions. Flying Tiger Line, a major cargo airline, continued the legacy of service and innovation, contributing to the evolving landscape of aviation post-World War II.
