The M1A2 TUSK II Abrams is an enhanced version of the Tank Urban Survival Kit, introduced to address evolving threats in dense combat environments. Building on TUSK I, it adds improved reactive armor coverage, upgraded crew protection, and revised countermeasures against modern RPGs and improvised explosive threats. TUSK II retains key features such as the loader’s thermal sight, remote weapon station, armored shields, and slat armor for the rear. Combined with the M1A2’s commander’s independent thermal viewer, digital battlefield networking, and 120 mm gun, the M1A2 TUSK II delivers increased survivability, situational awareness, and lethality in complex urban and asymmetric warfare. General Dynamics delivered the first M1 Abrams to the U.S. Army in 1980. The Abrams is a full tracked, low profile land combat system possessing a high degree of armor protection, lethal firepower, maneuverability and agility. It is built primarily from sturdy rolled homogeneous armor steel plates, sandwiched around thicker protective material. Its four man crew is aided by an array of sensors that constantly monitor the tank's tilt, the turret's motion and any gusts of wind; a computer adjusts the gun accordingly to keep it aimed at its target.
