A battle between Chinese forces and UN troops took place between April 22, 1951 and April 25, 1951. Located a few miles north of the 38th Parallel is the Imjin Valley where the battle took place when Chinese forces launched an assault in an effort to push UN forces back south of the 38th Parallel and retake the South Korean capital of Seoul. The battle was part of the Chinese Spring Offensive and is known by several names, Battle of the Imjin River, Battle of Solma-ri, Battle of Gloster Hill and Battle of Xuemali.
