The ZF Group from Friedrichshafen on Lake Constance secured an order for three Zeppelin NTs from the US tire manufacturer. While the previously built Zeppelins NT were airships of the LZ N07-100 type, Goodyear received the first Zeppelins of the new LZ N07-101 series. Although these are still 75 meters long, the slightly stretched gondola has space for 16 instead of the previous 14 passengers. Now there is a fourth example with a slightly different livery, which has been flying around in Germany and Europe at sporting events, but also in regular sightseeing flights over Lake Constance in the distinctive yellow-blue for Goodyear since 2020.
Designed as a commercial airship, the Zeppelin NT (Neue Technologie) was first flown in September 1997. The semi-rigid design differs considerably from the early Zeppelin rigid airships and the modern non-rigid blimps. By making extensive use of modern construction materials, the NT is very lightweight yet extremely strong. © Copyright 2003-2024 The Flying Mule, Inc.
