The Challenger II is one one of the most advanced main battle tanks. It has outstanding firepower, protection and mobility. The model comes with accurate markings, camouflage patterns and includes a sturdy display case! Lacking adequate training areas for armoured manoeuvre warfare in Europe the British had long maintained a training establishment in Canada, called BATUS (British Army Training Unit Suffield). This area allowed British armoured units in Germany to fly over to Canada in rotation during the summer and test their skills against the resident OPFOR unit. The realistic training at BATUS was considered the best test of the skills of individual battle groups. Dragon's 1:72 scale Challenger 2 is constructed with an intelligent mix of diecast metal and plastic, with the entire hull and large low-profile turret in plastic for the highest possible detail. A discreet, internally-mounted weight gives the model its heft. The turret features an elevating cannon with muzzle reference sensor, smoke grenade launchers and a removable 7.62 machine gun with attached ammo box. The hull has upgraded armor side skirts, hand-painted headlights and fire extinguishers, separately-applied cabling on the sides and external fuel tanks mounted to the rear.
