The German Air Force maintains a so-called "Special Air Mission Wing" which, among other things, is responsible for air transport befitting of the Federal President and the Federal Government. As part of a modernization of the aged fleet, inter alia two A319s were purchased which allow for non-stop flights over distances like Berlin-Washington DC.
