The M35 gun truck, a modified version of the M35 2.5-ton cargo truck, was widely used during the Vietnam War to protect supply convoys. Fitted with armor plating and armed with various weapons, including M2 .50 caliber machine guns or quad-mounted M60s, it provided crucial firepower against ambushes on the perilous roads. The "Quad .50" configuration, featuring four .50 caliber machine guns mounted on a turret, became iconic for its devastating firepower. These makeshift yet effective vehicles were crewed by courageous soldiers, serving as a vital line of defense in the challenging and often dangerous conditions of Vietnam.
Designed for the US Army in 1949 by the REO Motor Car Company, the M35 "Deuce and a Half" first entered service in the early 1950s. This 2 ½ ton vehicle is rated to carry 5,000 lbs cross-country and up to 10,000 lbs on paved roads, but has been known to carry much more, in some cases up to twice what it is rated for. No longer used just by the Army, today M35s serve all branches of the US military as well as in many other nations. - Molded resin construction with no assembly required.
- Fixed, non-rotating propellers and wheels.
- Poseable presention stand to display the aircraft "in flight".
Why Resin?
It's very expensive to produce die-casting molds, and manufacturers must sell a large number of models from each mold in order to recoup development costs. Some subjects are so obscure that it's difficult to sell large quantities of them. Resin-casting is a much simpler and less expensive process, and manufacturers can use it to make limited runs of models that can't be cost effectively manufactured in diecast metal. With resin-cast models, collectors can add fascinating and unusual subjects to their collections without the time and difficulty of assembling and painting a model kit.
