Designed as a Weapons/Troop Carrier for the Dodge WC series of light military trucks, the WC 63 was essentially a stretched version of the WC 51 with an additional axle making it a 6x6. This lengthening came as a direct result of the US Army's decision to increase the size of a rifle squad from eight to twelve men. With a 1.5 ton payload, the WC 63 could not haul as much as the ubiquitous 2.5 ton M35 "Deuce-and-a-half" but it was nevertheless produced in vast quantities and formed an integral component of the US Army's logistical force. © Copyright 2003-2024 The Flying Mule, Inc.
