Airbus A340-642, serial number 580, entered service with Lufthansa as D-AIHK. The aircraft joined the airline's long haul fleet in the mid 2000s and operated intercontinental routes from Frankfurt and Munich to destinations across North America, Asia, and the Middle East. Configured with first class, business class, premium economy, and economy seating, it provided a premium passenger experience on long distance flights. Powered by Rolls Royce Trent 500 engines, the A340-600 offered excellent range and smooth performance. D-AIHK served as an important flagship aircraft within Lufthansa's widebody fleet for many years.
