Boeing 747-830 Intercontinental, construction number 37827, was delivered to Lufthansa as D-ABYA in 2012 as part of the airline's launch fleet for the 747-8I. The aircraft operated long haul flagship routes from Frankfurt to major destinations in North America and Asia, including Washington and Hong Kong. D-ABYA featured Lufthansa's premium long haul cabin with first class, business class, premium economy, and economy seating, along with updated inflight entertainment. Powered by GEnx-2B67 engines, the 747-8I offered improved fuel efficiency, lower noise, and greater range than earlier 747 variants. D-ABYA became a symbol of Lufthansa's continued commitment to the iconic Jumbo Jet on high demand intercontinental routes.
Designed as a large capacity airliner and freight hauler, the 747 was first flown on February 9th, 1969. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
