Boeing 747-412, construction number 27069, was delivered to Singapore Airlines as 9V-SPL in 1997. The aircraft later became well known for wearing the airline's special Tropical livery, featuring bright colors and floral motifs designed to highlight Southeast Asia's vibrant culture and tourism appeal. 9V-SPL operated long haul routes from Singapore to Europe, Australia, and North America, serving as a flagship aircraft within the 747-400 fleet. It retained Singapore Airlines' high cabin standards with first, business, and economy class seating. As the fleet transitioned to newer aircraft such as the A380 and 777-300ER, 9V-SPL was eventually retired from service, closing its chapter as one of the carrier's most eye catching jumbo jets.
Designed as a large capacity airliner and freight hauler, the 747 was first flown on February 9th, 1969. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
