The The Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-19PM is a Soviet jet fighter developed in the 1950s, designed for interceptor roles. It is a variant of the MiG-19 equipped with radar and capable of launching air-to-air missiles, marking a significant technological step. The "P" indicates radar, and "M" denotes missile-armed. Powered by two Tumansky RD-9B afterburning turbojet engines, the MiG-19PM had a maximum speed of Mach 1.3 and a service ceiling of 17,500 meters. It carried four K-5M (AA-1 Alkali) missiles but lacked a gun, unlike earlier versions. The aircraft played a vital role in Cold War air defense and served in various air forces worldwide.
Designed as an enhanced version of the MiG-15 jet fighter, the MiG-19 was first flown on May 24th, 1952. © Copyright 2003-2025 The Flying Mule, Inc.
