The DH 82 Tiger Moth bi-plane, designed by Geoffrey De Havilland, took to the skies in 1931 and was operated by the Royal Air Force, amongst others, primarily as a training aircraft. It lasted into the early 1950s in this role. Built by the de Havilland Aircraft Company between 1931 and 1944, they produced nearly 9000 of the Tiger Moth and many survive today, flown by flying clubs and private owners around the world.
