Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, registered B-1566, flies for Xiamen Airlines as part of the Chinese carrier's long-haul widebody fleet supporting international routes connecting Xiamen to destinations including Los Angeles. As one of China's major regional airlines with a growing long-haul network, Xiamen Airlines has used the 787-9 to expand transpacific service between southeastern China and North America, offering business and economy class cabins on ultra-long-haul flights approaching 14 hours in duration. The aircraft's introduction reflected Xiamen Airlines' broader strategy of establishing direct international connections from its home base rather than relying solely on connections through larger Chinese hub airports.
