Boeing 757-230, registered D-ABNF, flew for Condor wearing the striking "Rizzi Bird" special livery, a colorful design created by pop artist James Rizzi featuring his signature whimsical, cartoon-like imagery applied across the aircraft's fuselage. As part of Condor's fleet of 757s supporting German leisure and charter routes during the 2000s, the aircraft became one of the airline's most visually distinctive and popular liveries among aviation enthusiasts and collectors. Condor's practice of commissioning artist collaborations for special aircraft liveries reflected the carrier's broader branding strategy of using vibrant, memorable designs to distinguish its fleet within the competitive European leisure travel market.
Designed as a narrow-bodied, twin-engined airliner to replace the 727, the 757 was first flown on February 19th, 1982. Developed in tandem with the wide-bodied 767 twinjet, both aircraft share a common digital cockpit layout and are operated by a two man flight crew. Thanks to a proven reliability track-record, the 757 is approved for extended twin engine operations (ETOPS) making it a popular choice for airlines flying transatlantic routes.
