Boeing 757-208, registered G-LSAD, flies for Jet2, the UK leisure carrier that has operated a substantial fleet of 757s supporting package holiday routes from regional British airports to Mediterranean and other European sun destinations. Jet2's 757 fleet included some of the type's oldest surviving examples, with sister aircraft G-LSAI, delivered originally to China's CAAC in 1987, flying the final UK passenger 757 service in January 2025 before the fleet's retirement. As part of this historic fleet, G-LSAD represented Jet2's long-standing reliance on the reliable and well-proven 757 for its core holiday charter operations.
Designed as a narrow-bodied, twin-engined airliner to replace the 727, the 757 was first flown on February 19th, 1982. Developed in tandem with the wide-bodied 767 twinjet, both aircraft share a common digital cockpit layout and are operated by a two man flight crew. Thanks to a proven reliability track-record, the 757 is approved for extended twin engine operations (ETOPS) making it a popular choice for airlines flying transatlantic routes. A total of 1050 aircraft were built before production ceased in 2004, however many airframes have since been retrofitted with drag-reducing blended winglets to help improve fuel economy. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
