Boeing 757-2H7(PCF), registered 9M-RYA, flies for Raya Airways, a Malaysian cargo carrier operating a fleet of converted 757 freighters supporting domestic and regional cargo routes across Southeast Asia. Raya Airways has built its business around providing express and contract cargo capacity within Malaysia and neighboring countries, leveraging the 757's payload capacity and operating economics for medium-haul freight routes. As part of the airline's core freighter fleet, 9M-RYA supports Raya's role in the Malaysian logistics sector, connecting the country's air cargo network to broader regional supply chains across the Asia-Pacific region.
Designed as a narrow-bodied, twin-engined airliner to replace the 727, the 757 was first flown on February 19th, 1982. Developed in tandem with the wide-bodied 767 twinjet, both aircraft share a common digital cockpit layout and are operated by a two man flight crew. Thanks to a proven reliability track-record, the 757 is approved for extended twin engine operations (ETOPS) making it a popular choice for airlines flying transatlantic routes. A total of 1050 aircraft were built before production ceased in 2004, however many airframes have since been retrofitted with drag-reducing blended winglets to help improve fuel economy. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
