Boeing 757-2Q8, registered OH-AFI, was leased to easyJet from Air Finland in July 2010 to provide extra summer capacity, arriving with retrofitted winglets that distinguished it from sister aircraft OH-AFJ. First entering service with Transavia in 1996, the aircraft spent its first decade shared among Transavia, Air Transat, and Air Finland before Air Finland took over as overall leaseholder in 2003. After Air Finland's 2012 collapse, the aircraft underwent a premium-heavy conversion, flying for UK-based TAG Aviation with just 52 to 78 business-class seats from 2014 to 2020, before joining Russia's Azur Air as VQ-BZE.
Designed as a narrow-bodied, twin-engined airliner to replace the 727, the 757 was first flown on February 19th, 1982. Developed in tandem with the wide-bodied 767 twinjet, both aircraft share a common digital cockpit layout and are operated by a two man flight crew. Thanks to a proven reliability track-record, the 757 is approved for extended twin engine operations (ETOPS) making it a popular choice for airlines flying transatlantic routes. A total of 1050 aircraft were built before production ceased in 2004, however many airframes have since been retrofitted with drag-reducing blended winglets to help improve fuel economy. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
