Airbus A319-112, registered VT-SCS, flies for Air India wearing a special livery honoring Mahatma Gandhi, one of several commemorative schemes the carrier has applied to celebrate significant figures in Indian history. As part of Air India's substantial fleet of A319s supporting the carrier's dense domestic short-haul network, the aircraft connects major Indian cities including Mumbai, Delhi, and regional destinations across the country. Air India's practice of applying culturally meaningful special liveries reflects the airline's efforts to reinforce its national identity following its privatization and acquisition by the Tata Group in partnership with Singapore Airlines.
Designed as a shortened-fuselage version of the highly successful A320 design, the A319 was first flown on August 25th, 1995. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
