Airbus A318-121, serial number 1599, entered service with Airbus Industrie as F-WWIA. First flown in January 2002, the aircraft was the first A318 prototype and was used extensively during development and certification of the smallest member of the Airbus A320 family. Initially powered by Pratt & Whitney PW6000 engines, F-WWIA was later converted to A318-122 configuration with CFM International CFM56 engines and continued development and demonstration work for Airbus. The aircraft appeared at major aviation events including the Farnborough and Paris air shows before eventually leaving the Airbus test fleet and being converted for executive operations.
