Airbus A318-111, serial number 2333, entered service with Mexicana as XA-UBR in November 2004. The aircraft joined Mexicana's new generation narrowbody fleet and operated short and medium haul services from Mexico City to destinations across Mexico, North America, and Latin America. Powered by two CFM International CFM56 engines, the A318 offered excellent commonality with Mexicana's larger A319 and A320 aircraft while providing economical capacity for thinner routes. XA-UBR remained part of the Mexicana fleet until the carrier ceased operations in August 2010, bringing its relatively brief six-year career with the historic Mexican airline to an end.
