Airbus A318-111, serial number 2328, entered service with Mexicana as XA-UBQ in November 2004. Named "Ecuador," the aircraft joined Mexicana's fleet of compact A318s for domestic and regional services from Mexico City to destinations throughout Mexico, the United States, and Latin America. Powered by two CFM International CFM56 engines, XA-UBQ combined the A320 family's modern cockpit and passenger comfort with a smaller capacity suited to lower-demand routes. It remained with Mexicana until the airline suspended operations in August 2010 and was subsequently registered N590EL before eventually being scrapped.
Designed as a greatly shortened-fuselage version of the highly successful A320 design, the A318 was first flown on January 15th, 2002 © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
