The Airbus A318 is the smallest member of the A320 family, a shortened variant seating around 107 to 132 passengers, developed to serve thinner routes and smaller airports than its larger siblings could economically support. Entering service in 2003 with Frontier Airlines, the A318 saw limited commercial success compared to the rest of the A320 family, with only around 80 aircraft built. Air France operated a notable domestic and short-haul European fleet of A318s, while British Airways famously used a specially configured all-business-class A318 for its transatlantic London City to New York service, showcasing the type's niche long-range business aviation applications.
Designed as a greatly shortened-fuselage version of the highly successful A320 design, the A318 was first flown on January 15th, 2002 © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
