Tupolev Tu-204-120CE, registered B-2871, was the first Tu-204-120 delivered to Air China Cargo, arriving in November 2006 as part of a rare foray by a major Chinese carrier into Russian-built widebody-adjacent freighter aircraft. Powered by Western Rolls-Royce RB211-535E4 engines and fitted with Western avionics for the export market, the Tu-204-120 variant was designed to appeal to international operators seeking an alternative to Boeing and Airbus freighters. Air China Cargo's brief operation of the type reflected a period of experimentation with Russian aircraft manufacturing before the carrier settled predominantly on Western-built freighters for its long-term cargo fleet strategy.
Designed as a twin-engined medium-range narrow-body airliner, the Tu-204 was first flown on January 2nd, 1989. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
