Boeing 767-322ER, serial number 29242, entered service with United Airlines as N674UA in April 2000. The aircraft joined United's long haul 767 fleet and has operated domestic transcontinental and international services to destinations across Europe, South America, and other markets. Powered by two Pratt & Whitney PW4000 engines, the 767-300ER combines useful intercontinental range with economical twin-engine operation. N674UA has undergone several cabin refurbishments during its career and remains active with United, configured for premium-heavy international service and continuing to operate routes including transatlantic flights between Chicago and London.
Designed as a wide-bodied, twin-engined airliner to fill the niche between the narrow-bodied 707 and wide-bodied 747, the 767 was first flown on September 26th, 1981. Developed in tandem with the narrow-bodied 757 twinjet, both aircraft share a common digital cockpit layout and are operated by a two man flight crew. Thanks to a proven reliability track-record, the 767 is approved for extended twin engine operations (ETOPS) making it a popular choice for airlines flying transatlantic routes.
