Airbus A320-251N, registered B-329J, flies for Colorful Guizhou Airlines as part of the Chinese regional carrier's growing A320neo fleet supporting domestic routes within and beyond Guizhou province. Colorful Guizhou Airlines, named for the mountainous southwestern Chinese province known for its scenic landscapes and ethnic diversity, has built its narrowbody fleet around the more fuel-efficient New Engine Option variant to support its expanding regional network. As part of this developing regional carrier's core fleet, B-329J connects Guizhou's provincial capital Guiyang and other cities to destinations across China's domestic aviation network.
Designed as a short/medium range narrow-body airliner to compete with the Boeing 737, the Airbus A320 was first flown on February 22nd, 1987. The A320 features side stick controllers and glass cockpit and was the world's first airliner to use use a digital fly-by-wire control system. Controversially, the software includes "flight envelope protection" to prevent the pilot from exceeding safe flight parameters. The highly successful design rapidly led to the development of the shortened-fuselage A318 and A319, and lengthened-fuselage A321 derivatives.
