The Airbus A321neo is the largest member of the A320neo family, featuring new-generation CFM LEAP-1A or Pratt & Whitney PW1100G engines alongside new sharklet wingtip devices that together deliver roughly 20 percent lower fuel burn compared to the previous-generation A321ceo. First entering service with Lufthansa in 2017, the type has become one of the best-selling commercial aircraft ever, with thousands of orders from airlines worldwide seeking a fuel-efficient, high-capacity narrowbody for both short-haul and increasingly longer-range routes, including transatlantic service enabled by the extended-range A321XLR variant that entered service in 2024.
Designed as a lengthened-fuselage version of the highly successful A320 design, the A321 was first flown on March 11th, 1993. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
