Boeing 737-732, registered N301DQ, was the first Boeing 737-700 delivered to Delta Air Lines, entering service in July 2008 as part of a fleet that would eventually total ten aircraft. Delta's small 737-700 fleet, used primarily on shorter and thinner routes including flights to Key West and Tegucigalpa, Honduras, was withdrawn between 2020 and 2023 amid the airline's pandemic-era fleet consolidation efforts. N301DQ itself was retired in September 2020 and scrapped at Marana, Arizona, ending a 12-year career that saw the aircraft average between three and four flight segments daily from Delta's Atlanta hub. Designed as a smaller, short-ranged alternative to the Boeing 707 and 727, the 737 was first flown on April 9th, 1967. Over its long operational carreer, the 737 has spawned numerous variants ranging in capacity from less than 100 to more than 200 seats. In fact, the 737 series is the best-selling jetliner in aviation history with more than 6,500 aircraft manufactured to date and more than 4,500 still in service with over 500 airlines around the world. Incredibly, there is a 737 taking off or landing somewhere in the world, on average, every five seconds. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
