The Vought A-7P Corsair II was a variant of the A-7 Corsair II light attack aircraft, which was developed for the Hellenic Air Force of Greece. The A-7P was based on the earlier A-7E model, but was specifically designed to meet the requirements of the Greek air force. It was powered by a single Pratt & Whitney TF30 turbofan engine and had a maximum speed of over 600 mph. The A-7P was armed with a variety of air-to-ground weapons, including bombs, rockets, and missiles, and was equipped with a state-of-the-art avionics suite that provided advanced navigation, targeting, and communication capabilities. The aircraft was designed for close air support and ground attack missions, and was known for its excellent maneuverability, low-altitude performance, and long range. The A-7P was widely used by the Hellenic Air Force in a number of operational missions, including operations in the Balkans and the Middle East. Despite being retired from active service, the A-7 Corsair II remains an important part of aviation history and is widely regarded as one of the best light attack aircraft of its era.

Vought A-7P Corsair II

Designed as a longer-range, higher-payload replacement for the A-4 Skyhawk, the A-7 Corsair II was first flown on September 27th, 1965. This aircraft entered service during the Vietnam war and later became one of only a few US Navy aircraft to serve with the US Air Force. It possessed cutting edge technologies; it was one of the first aircraft to use a turbofan engine, an internal navigation system and a "head-up" display. Late in its career, A-7s were used for pilot training and were parked outside of hangars in order to draw the attention of Soviet spy satellites away from the fledgling F-117.
