The Sd.Kfz. 9, known as the "Famo," was a German heavy half-track used extensively in World War II. With a powerful 12-cylinder Maybach engine, it was one of the largest half-tracks, designed to tow heavy artillery and recover damaged vehicles, including tanks. The Sd.Kfz. 9 could pull up to 28 tons and often worked in teams to recover heavier tanks like the Panther and Tiger. Its robust construction, heavy-duty winch, and high traction made it indispensable on challenging terrain. Used across European and North African theaters, the Sd.Kfz. 9 was crucial for German armored operations, enabling quick recovery and repair.
