The DC-10 is a wide-body Trijet airliner that features two engines mounted on underwing pylons and a third engine at the base of the vertical stabilizer. The DC-10 has range from 3800 to 6220 miles for medium to long-haul flights, capable of carrying a maximum of 380 passengers. National Airlines was a US airline based out of Miami that operated from 1934 to 1980. Dubbed the "Sun King" for their eye-catching livery, National's DC-10s flew their trans-continental routes and was part of the airline's 1972 publicity campaign promoting National's flight attendants with the slogan "I'm Phyllis Fly me."
Designed to meet an American Airlines requirement for a wide-bodied transport, the DC-10 was first flown on August 29th, 1970. © Copyright 2003-2024 The Flying Mule, Inc.
