Airbus A320-271N operated by Lufthansa as D-AINY. Powered by Pratt & Whitney PW1100G geared turbofan engines, D-AINY is part of Lufthansa's large A320neo fleet used on German domestic and European services. The aircraft became particularly distinctive in June 2022 when Lufthansa unveiled it in the colorful "Lovehansa" special livery for Pride Month. Instead of the normal Lufthansa titles, the aircraft carried "Lovehansa" branding together with rainbow-colored heart motifs on its fuselage. Originally intended as a temporary scheme, it proved sufficiently popular to remain recognizable for several years. D-AINY continues operating from Lufthansa's Frankfurt hub and remains active in 2026.
Designed as a short/medium range narrow-body airliner to compete with the Boeing 737, the Airbus A320 was first flown on February 22nd, 1987. The A320 features side stick controllers and glass cockpit and was the world's first airliner to use use a digital fly-by-wire control system. Controversially, the software includes "flight envelope protection" to prevent the pilot from exceeding safe flight parameters. The highly successful design rapidly led to the development of the shortened-fuselage A318 and A319, and lengthened-fuselage A321 derivatives. More than 4,500 of the A320 family have been produced, almost all of which are still in active service. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
