Boeing 727-30C, serial number 19010, line number 382, operated by Lufthansa as D-ABIZ and named "Gelsenkirchen." Delivered new in March 1967, the aircraft was a convertible passenger/cargo version of the original 727-100 and became part of Lufthansa's rapidly expanding European jet fleet. D-ABIZ served Lufthansa for more than 11 years before being sold to Uruguay's PLUNA in November 1978 as CX-BKB. It later returned to the United States as N4585L and served CAM Air International and Flying Tigers before passing through several subsequent operators. The veteran 727 was eventually withdrawn and was broken up at Kingman, Arizona in November 2012, more than 45 years after its original delivery.

Boeing 727-100

Designed as a smaller, short/medium-ranged complement to the 707, the 727 was first flown on February 9th, 1963.
