Airbus A340-642, serial number 662, entered service with Lufthansa as D-AIHG. The aircraft joined Lufthansa's long haul fleet in the mid 2000s and operated international routes connecting Frankfurt and Munich with destinations across North America, Asia, and the Middle East. Configured with first class, business class, premium economy, and economy seating, it provided a premium passenger experience on long distance flights. Powered by Rolls Royce Trent 500 engines, the A340-600 offered excellent range and reliability for intercontinental operations. D-AIHG served as an important part of Lufthansa's widebody fleet before the airline gradually reduced A340 operations.
