JC Wings 1:400 Series XX40253
Boeing 737-200 Diecast Model
VARIG, PP-VME

Limited Edition

1:400 Scale   Length   Width
Boeing 737-200   3"   2.75"

Boeing 737-241, serial number 21000, entered service with VARIG as PP-VME in October 1974. The aircraft was the first Boeing 737-200 Super Advanced delivered to VARIG and helped introduce the type to the Brazilian carrier's domestic network. Powered by two Pratt & Whitney JT8D engines, PP-VME operated high-frequency services throughout Brazil, including the important Rio de Janeiro-Sao Paulo air bridge. After nearly three decades with VARIG, the aircraft briefly passed through Nacional before joining Rico Linhas Aereas. PP-VME was eventually retired and preserved in Brazil for use as a training aid.

Boeing 737-200

Designed as a smaller, short-ranged alternative to the Boeing 707 and 727, the 737 was first flown on April 9th, 1967. Over its long operational carreer, the 737 has spawned numerous variants ranging in capacity from less than 100 to more than 200 seats. In fact, the 737 series is the best-selling jetliner in aviation history with more than 6,500 aircraft manufactured to date and more than 4,500 still in service with over 500 airlines around the world. Incredibly, there is a 737 taking off or landing somewhere in the world, on average, every five seconds.
