Boeing 777-F, registered D-ALFI, serial number 66912, flies for Lufthansa Cargo wearing a special "Cargo Human Care" livery supporting the carrier's charitable foundation, which funds humanitarian and educational projects in developing countries served by Lufthansa Cargo's route network. As part of the airline's substantial 777 freighter fleet operating from its Frankfurt hub, D-ALFI connects Germany to major cargo destinations worldwide, including Mexico, reflected in the aircraft's accompanying "Hola Mexico" branding. Lufthansa Cargo has used its freighter fleet's liveries to promote both sustainability initiatives and social responsibility programs connected to the communities it serves. Designed as a wide-bodied, twin-engined airliner to compete with the Airbus A330/A340 and the McDonnell Douglas MD-11, the 777 was first flown on June 12th, 1994. A pair of the world's largest diameter turbofan engines power the aircraft which currently holds the record for world's largest twin-engined airliner. The 777 was Boeing's first fly-by-wire airliner, featuring complete glass cockpit displays and flight envelope protection.
