Airbus A320-271N, operated by LATAM Airlines Brasil as PR-XBG. Powered by Pratt & Whitney PW1100G geared turbofan engines, the aircraft forms part of LATAM's expanding A320neo fleet and is used extensively on domestic Brazilian and regional South American services. PR-XBG is particularly distinctive for carrying LATAM's special "Brasil Flag" livery, featuring prominent Brazilian national colors and imagery. The aircraft remains active in 2026, with recent operations linking Sao Paulo with destinations including Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro, Fortaleza and Porto Alegre. The special scheme makes PR-XBG one of the most recognizable A320neos in LATAM's large narrowbody fleet.
Designed as a short/medium range narrow-body airliner to compete with the Boeing 737, the Airbus A320 was first flown on February 22nd, 1987. The A320 features side stick controllers and glass cockpit and was the world's first airliner to use use a digital fly-by-wire control system. Controversially, the software includes "flight envelope protection" to prevent the pilot from exceeding safe flight parameters. The highly successful design rapidly led to the development of the shortened-fuselage A318 and A319, and lengthened-fuselage A321 derivatives.
