Boeing 737-8EH, registered PR-GUQ, was delivered directly from the factory to GOL Linhas Aereas in 2012 and flew exclusively for the Brazilian low-cost carrier throughout its operational life, leased from Ansett Worldwide Aviation Services, later acquired by Dubai Aerospace Enterprise. When the leasing contract ended, the aircraft was retired and ferried from Belo Horizonte to Miami and then to storage at Goodyear Airport in Phoenix, Arizona, in September 2023, joining several other retired GOL 737-800s at the desert storage facility. GOL has used similar aircraft in its fleet for special-livery marketing partnerships celebrating Brazilian culture and entertainment franchises. Designed as a smaller, short-ranged alternative to the Boeing 707 and 727, the 737 was first flown on April 9th, 1967. Over its long operational carreer, the 737 has spawned numerous variants ranging in capacity from less than 100 to more than 200 seats. In fact, the 737 series is the best-selling jetliner in aviation history with more than 6,500 aircraft manufactured to date and more than 4,500 still in service with over 500 airlines around the world.
