The Boeing C-40A Clipper is a military derivative of the Boeing 737-700C combining the 737-700 fuselage with the strengthened wings and landing gear of the larger 737-800, serving the United States Navy's Fleet Logistics Support Squadrons on critical cargo and passenger airlift missions for fleet forces worldwide. Entering service in April 2001, the C-40A can be configured for 121 passengers, eight cargo pallets, or a combination of both, with auxiliary fuel tanks extending its unrefueled range to 5,000 nautical miles compared with 3,010 nautical miles for the standard commercial 737-700, replacing the Navy's older C-9 Skytrain fleet.
