Bombardier Dash 8 Q400, registered VH-QOH, was delivered to QantasLink in 2006 and flew for years wearing a distinctive pink "Breast Cancer Awareness" livery supporting cancer research and awareness campaigns across the airline's Australian regional network. In October 2018, the aircraft was repainted into Qantas's new "Silver Roo" livery introduced alongside the airline's 787 Dreamliner, and was formally named "Forster" after the New South Wales coastal town, having previously flown unnamed since delivery. As part of QantasLink's Q400 fleet, the aircraft connects regional Australian communities including Mount Isa, Cloncurry, and Gladstone to major hub airports.
Designed as a short-haul transport based on the Dash 7 design, the Bombardier Dash 8 (formerly de Havilland Canada DHC-8) was first flown on June 20th, 1983. Appearing to be a smaller, twin-engined version of the Dash 7, the Dash 8 design placed less emphasis on STOL (Short take-off and landing) capability and focused more heavily on economical operation.
