Airbus A340-541, registered PT-MSL, flew for TAM Linhas Aereas as part of the Brazilian carrier's fleet of former Air Canada A340-500s, acquired via sub-lease starting in November 2007. Air Canada had originally taken delivery of the aircraft in June 2004, though the carrier reportedly had limited enthusiasm for the type by that point, operating it for just over three years before releasing it to TAM. As a new aircraft type for TAM, the A340-500 supported the airline's ultra-long-haul international routes, including flights to Europe, leveraging the type's exceptional range capability before eventual retirement.
Designed as a wide-bodied, long-haul passenger transport, the A340 was first flown on October 25th, 1991. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
