Boeing 737-3H4, serial number 27704, entered service with Southwest Airlines as N629SW. The aircraft became part of Southwest's expanding fleet during the 1990s and operated short and medium haul routes across the airline's growing domestic network. Configured with the airline's single class cabin, the 737-300 provided high frequency service and quick turnaround times. Powered by CFM56-3 engines, the aircraft offered improved performance and efficiency compared with earlier 737 variants. N629SW played a key role in Southwest Airlines' growth before the airline later replaced the 737-300 fleet with newer 737 Next Generation aircraft. Designed as a smaller, short-ranged alternative to the Boeing 707 and 727, the 737 was first flown on April 9th, 1967. Over its long operational carreer, the 737 has spawned numerous variants ranging in capacity from less than 100 to more than 200 seats. In fact, the 737 series is the best-selling jetliner in aviation history with more than 6,500 aircraft manufactured to date and more than 4,500 still in service with over 500 airlines around the world. Incredibly, there is a 737 taking off or landing somewhere in the world, on average, every five seconds. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
