Convair CV-580 Diecast Model
FAA, N39

Limited Edition

1:200 Scale   Length   Width
Convair CV-580   5"   6.25"

Convair CV-580, operated by the Federal Aviation Administration as N39. The aircraft serves as a specialized research, test, and flight inspection platform rather than a conventional passenger transport. Developed from the piston-powered Convair 340/440 family, the CV-580 conversion replaced the original engines with two powerful Allison 501-D13 turboprops, providing substantially improved performance and reliability. N39 has supported FAA aviation research and testing activities, including work involving navigation, surveillance, communications, and airport systems. Its rugged construction, spacious cabin, and flexible instrumentation capability made the CV-580 particularly well suited to specialized government aviation missions.

Convair CV-580

Designed as a replacement for the DC-3, the Convair 240 was first flown on July 8th, 1946. The design spawned a series of larger variants, affectionately known as the "Convairliners".
