Convair CV-580, registered N580EH, flew for Evergreen International Airlines, the Oregon-based cargo and charter carrier known for operating a diverse fleet of vintage aircraft including Convairs, DC-9s, and Boeing 747s in later years. Evergreen used Convair 580 freighters for smaller-volume cargo routes, including contract flights for the U.S. Air Force's Logair program moving military logistics between American bases. The propliner-era Convair, originally built as a piston-powered CV-440 Metropolitan before conversion to turboprop CV-580 specification, represented the kind of durable, adaptable cargo aircraft that supported Evergreen's varied charter and contract flying operations for decades.
