Boeing 747-422, registered N118UA, was delivered to United Airlines in February 1999 and became the aircraft chosen to fly United's final Boeing 747 passenger service, departing San Francisco for Honolulu on November 7, 2017. Wearing a special decal of United's original 1970s "Friend Ship" livery for the occasion, the flight commemorated nearly 50 years of United 747 operations dating back to the airline's launch of the type in 1970. Upon arrival in Honolulu, the aircraft was greeted with a 120-foot lei crafted by United employees, marking the emotional end of an era for the carrier's jumbo jet fleet.
Designed as a large capacity airliner and freight hauler, the 747 was first flown on February 9th, 1969. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
