Saab 340B, registered G-GNTI, flew for British Midland Commuter as part of the airline's regional turboprop fleet supporting short-haul UK and European routes under the British Midland brand, later known as bmi. British Midland Commuter used the Saab 340 to connect smaller British and European cities to the carrier's East Midlands and Heathrow hub operations. British Midland's history stretched back to 1938, and the airline maintained Star Alliance membership and an ANA codeshare partnership for Japan connections before its 2012 acquisition by International Airlines Group led to the retirement of the British Midland brand entirely.
