Saab 340B, registered G-LGNB, serial number 340B-216, was one of Loganair's first two Saab 340s, purchased from Minnesota-based Mesaba Airlines in summer 1999 alongside sister aircraft G-LGNA, launching what became a quarter-century partnership between the Scottish regional carrier and the type. Flying under British Airways franchise branding from 2000 until Loganair's 2008 switch to Flybe colors, the aircraft supported vital Highlands and Islands connections. Loganair's Saab 340 fleet, which grew to 16 aircraft including dedicated freighters, was eventually retired entirely in January 2024 as the carrier transitioned to new ATR turboprops.
