Airbus A330-941, registered F-WTTN, serial number 1795, served as Airbus's primary A330neo flight-test aircraft, making its first flight on October 19, 2017, and later completing 1,100 hours of certification testing focused on handling qualities, performance, and flight control laws validation. In March 2024, the aircraft conducted a landmark "Hot and High" test campaign in Toluca, Mexico, and La Paz, Bolivia, evaluating the A330neo's takeoff and landing performance at extreme altitudes up to 13,300 feet. This testing extended the A330neo's certified operating altitude to 12,500 feet, enabling service to high-altitude airports like Lhasa. Designed as a wide-bodied, long-haul passenger transport to compete with the Boeing 767, the A330 was first flown on November 2nd, 1992. It was designed as a lengthened version of the A300 and was developed in parallel with the larger, four-engined A340, enabling many of the components to be shared between the three types. The A330 also uses the same fly-by-wire technology that was introduced with the A320, featuring a glass cockpit and side-stick controllers. The A330 has the same range and payload capacity as a DC-10 with 25% greater fuel efficiency. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
