Boeing 737-522, serial number 26658, entered service with United Airlines as N932UA. The aircraft joined United's narrowbody fleet in the early 1990s and operated short and medium haul routes across the United States and to nearby international destinations. Configured with first class and economy seating, the 737-500 provided efficient service on routes requiring smaller capacity aircraft. Powered by CFM56-3 engines, the aircraft offered strong reliability and fuel efficiency for regional operations. N932UA supported United's hub networks for many years before the airline gradually retired the 737-500 fleet as newer Boeing 737 and Airbus aircraft entered service. Designed as a smaller, short-ranged alternative to the Boeing 707 and 727, the 737 was first flown on April 9th, 1967. Over its long operational carreer, the 737 has spawned numerous variants ranging in capacity from less than 100 to more than 200 seats. In fact, the 737 series is the best-selling jetliner in aviation history with more than 6,500 aircraft manufactured to date and more than 4,500 still in service with over 500 airlines around the world. Incredibly, there is a 737 taking off or landing somewhere in the world, on average, every five seconds. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
